Tanzania continues to reinforce its position as a leading African tourism destination following a high-level inspection visit to Mikumi National Park, where a new luxury facility—Mikumi Wildlife Lodge—is set to elevate the country’s hospitality offering within protected areas.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, Hassan Abbas, accompanied by the Commissioner of Conservation from Tanzania National Parks Authority, Musa Nassoro Kuji, conducted an official visit to inspect the newly developed lodge located inside the park.

A Strategic Boost to Tanzania’s Tourism Ecosystem

The development of Mikumi Wildlife Lodge marks a significant milestone in Tanzania’s strategy to expand high-quality tourism infrastructure within its national parks. The investment reflects growing confidence in Tanzania’s tourism sector, supported by stable policies, conservation efforts, and increasing global demand for authentic safari experiences.

Officials emphasized that such investments not only enhance visitor experience but also contribute to job creation, revenue generation, and sustainable conservation financing.

Inside Mikumi Wildlife Lodge

  

The lodge is designed to meet international hospitality standards, offering a blend of comfort, luxury, and immersive nature experiences. Key features include:

  • 48 modern lodge rooms, with capacity to host up to 96 guests
  • A state-of-the-art gym and recreational sports facilities
  • A modern conference hall, positioning the park as a potential hub for business tourism (MICE segment)
  • Panoramic views of Mikumi’s savannah, known for its abundant wildlife including elephants, giraffes, zebras, and lions

This integration of leisure and business tourism infrastructure aligns with Tanzania’s broader ambition to diversify its tourism products beyond traditional safari packages.
