OTTAWA : In a significant move to strengthen international cooperation and expand opportunities for students and institutions, Tanzania has stepped up its education diplomacy through a high-level working visit to Canada aimed at building strategic partnerships in education, research, innovation, and skills development.
The official visit, taking place in Ottawa from April 20 to April 25, 2026, is expected to unlock new opportunities for collaboration between Tanzanian and Canadian institutions, further advancing Tanzania’s education and human capital development agenda.
High-Level Tanzanian Delegation in Canada
The Tanzanian delegation is led by Lela Muhamed Musa, Zanzibar’s Minister for Education and Vocational Training, alongside Carolyne Nombo, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, and a team of education experts.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, the delegation has been actively engaging with a range of stakeholders in Canada’s capital city to forge partnerships that will benefit Tanzanian learners, educators, and academic institutions.
Tanzania Participates in Canada’s Connections Conference
The visit follows an official invitation from Colleges and Institutes Canada, where Tanzania is participating in the Connections Conference—a major international forum bringing together leaders of technical institutions to discuss solutions to global economic and social challenges.
Through this platform, Tanzania has showcased its education priorities and strategic reforms while opening discussions for collaboration with international institutions in areas such as:
- Technical and vocational education
- Innovation and entrepreneurship
