Arusha, Tanzania

In a strategic move to elevate service standards and safeguard Tanzania’s tourism reputation, Tanzania National Parks Authority has conducted a comprehensive training program focusing on anti-bribery practices and first aid response for its staff.

The initiative, held in collaboration with the Tanzania Red Cross Society and the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau, underscores Tanzania’s commitment to ethical tourism, visitor safety, and institutional integrity.

Building a Corruption-Free Tourism Experience

The training emphasized the importance of transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct among TANAPA personnel. Staff were urged to reject all forms of bribery and uphold professional standards while serving both local and international visitors.

Speaking during the session, TAKUKURU representative Sifaeli Mshana highlighted that corruption—especially in tourism service delivery—can severely damage the country’s global image.

“Every staff member must act as an ambassador of integrity. Fair and transparent service is key to sustaining Tanzania’s tourism growth,” he stressed.

Enhancing Emergency Preparedness in National Parks

Alongside governance training, participants received hands-on first aid skills designed to improve emergency response across Tanzania’s protected areas. From wildlife encounters to road incidents within parks, the ability to respond swiftly can save lives.

Dora Samson emphasized the importance of equipping frontline staff with lifesaving skills:

“Tourism environments can be unpredictable. First aid knowledge ensures immediate assistance during accidents or health emergencies, especially in remote park locations.”

Leadership Emphasizes Ethics and Service Excellence

The training was officially opened by Assistant Commissioner of Conservation Maria Kirombo Saidia, representing Commissioner of Conservation Musa Nasoro Kuji.

She called on TANAPA staff to maintain discipline, professionalism, and integrity in all operations:

“Visitors come to experience Tanzania’s natural beauty. It is our duty to ensure they receive safe, fair, and high-quality services that reflect our national values.”

Preparing for AFCON 2027 Tourism Boom

This training forms part of Tanzania’s broader preparations for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations 2027, which is expected to significantly increase tourist arrivals across the country.

With national parks such as Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and Mikumi National Park positioned as key attractions, TANAPA aims to deliver world-class experiences that combine safety, professionalism, and ethical service delivery.

A Step Forward for Sustainable Tourism

By integrating anti-corruption measures with practical emergency response training, TANAPA is reinforcing its role as a guardian of both natural heritage and visitor trust. This initiative reflects a forward-thinking approach—ensuring that Tanzania remains a leading, responsible, and competitive tourism destination in Africa.
