Day 1: Dar es Salaam - SGR train to Morogoro - Road transfer from Morogoro - Mikumi National Park.
The trip begins early in Dar es Salaam with a Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) train ride to Morogoro, which is fast and comfortable, taking around 1.5–2 hours. Upon arrival at Morogoro SGR station, you are picked up by a safari vehicle and guide and continue by road toward Mikumi National Park. The drive from Morogoro to Mikumi takes about 2–3 hours, passing through rural villages, open plains, and scenic landscapes at the edge of the Selous ecosystem. Once inside Mikumi National Park, the terrain opens into classic savannah, offering excellent opportunities to see wildlife such as elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, and lions. After the game drive, you return by road to Morogoro and later take the SGR train back to Dar es Salaam, making this option more time-efficient and comfortable than a full road journey.
