ZANZIBAR LAUNCHES BIG Z PROJECT TO EMPOWER TOURISM ENTREPRENEURS AND STRENGTHEN THE ISLAND'S TOURISM
Zanzibar, Tanzania — The Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar has officially launched the BIG Z (Soft Component) Project, a new initiative designed to strengthen entrepreneurship, improve tourism service quality, and create greater economic opportunities for local communities participating in the tourism sector.
The project was officially inaugurated by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Heritage, Aboud Suleiman Jumbe, during a ceremony held at the Maruhubi Tourism Training Institute.
The initiative forms part of Zanzibar's broader strategy to build a skilled workforce capable of supporting the continued growth and competitiveness of the tourism industry.

Speaking during the launch, Dr. Jumbe said the Government of Zanzibar, under the leadership of Hussein Ali Mwinyi, remains committed to creating an enabling environment that empowers citizens with the knowledge, practical skills, and opportunities needed to participate fully in economic development.
He explained that the BIG Z (Soft Component) Project focuses on developing human capital by equipping entrepreneurs and tourism stakeholders with the competencies required to grow successful and sustainable businesses.
"The tourism sector continues to be one of the key drivers of Zanzibar's economy. Through this project, we are investing in people by providing the knowledge and skills needed to improve businesses, create employment, and contribute to national development," he said.
