FAQs

How difficult is the Lemosho Route?
The Lemosho Route is considered moderately challenging. No technical climbing is required, but it is physically demanding due to long hiking days and high altitude. Good fitness and mental preparation are important.
What is the success rate?
The 8-day Lemosho itinerary has one of the highest summit success rates (85–95%) because of its excellent acclimatization profile. The extra days allow your body to adjust gradually to altitude.
Do I need prior climbing experience?
No technical mountaineering skills are needed. However, prior multi-day hiking experience and endurance training are highly recommended.
When is the best time to climb Mount Kilimanjaro?
The best months are: January – March (cooler, fewer climbers) June – October (dry season, clearer skies) Rainy seasons (April–May and November) are less ideal due to slippery trails.
How cold does it get?
Temperatures vary by altitude: Rainforest: 15–25Β°C High camps: -5 to -10Β°C at night Summit night: Can drop below -15Β°C Proper layered clothing is essential.
What kind of accommodation is provided?
During the trek, you stay in high-quality mountain tents. Before and after the climb, hotel accommodation in Moshi/Arusha can be arranged at an extra cost.
Is altitude sickness common?
Altitude affects everyone differently. Symptoms can include headache, nausea, and fatigue. The Lemosho Route’s gradual ascent greatly reduces risk. Guides conduct daily health checks and monitor oxygen levels.
What is summit day like?
Summit night begins around midnight from Barafu Camp. The climb to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) on Mount Kilimanjaro takes 6–8 hours uphill in cold, windy conditions. It is the most challenging but also the most rewarding day of the trek.
What should I pack?
Essential items include: Warm layered clothing Waterproof jacket & pants Quality hiking boots Headlamp (for summit night) Sleeping bag rated for sub-zero temperatures Sunscreen and sunglasses A detailed packing list is usually provided before departure.
Are rescue services available?
Yes. Kilimanjaro National Park maintains rescue services. Professional operators carry emergency oxygen and communication equipment.
Why choose the 8-day Lemosho instead of shorter routes?
βœ” Better acclimatization βœ” Higher summit success rate βœ” Less fatigue βœ” More scenic variety
