Overview

Arusha is widely known as the gateway to Tanzania’s northern safari circuit. Surrounded by fertile highlands and located at the foot of Mount Meru, the city offers a lively mix of culture, markets, and hospitality. Travelers often begin their safari here, enjoying the welcoming atmosphere and preparing for the wildlife adventures ahead. Arusha also serves as the main departure point for Tanzania’s most famous national parks.

From Arusha, the journey continues to Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s most scenic wildlife areas. The park is famous for its enormous baobab trees and large elephant herds that gather along the Tarangire River. During game drives, visitors often encounter zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, lions, and numerous bird species. Tarangire’s open landscapes and wildlife diversity make it an excellent introduction to Tanzania’s safari experience.

The adventure continues to the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. This natural amphitheater hosts an extraordinary concentration of wildlife, making it one of the best places in Africa to see the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino. The crater floor features lakes, grasslands, and forests that support a rich ecosystem and create one of the most rewarding safari destinations in Tanzania.
