Ngorongoro Crater
This four-day safari is designed to showcase two of Tanzania’s most iconic wildlife destinations — the legendary Serengeti National Park and the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater.
From the vast golden plains of Serengeti, home to the Great Migration and Africa’s most famous predators, to the wildlife-rich floor of the Ngorongoro Crater, this journey offers an unforgettable safari experience in a short yet immersive timeframe. Carefully selected accommodations — Friends & Camp Lodge in Serengeti and Naserian Lodge near Ngorongoro — provide comfort, relaxation, and authentic safari atmosphere after each exciting day in the wild.
This itinerary is ideal for couples, families, photographers, and first-time visitors looking to experience Tanzania’s best wildlife highlights.
After an early breakfast in Arusha, depart for Serengeti National Park. The journey takes you through the scenic Ngorongoro Highlands, offering spectacular views of valleys and crater landscapes before descending into the endless plains of Serengeti.
As you enter the park, wildlife viewing begins immediately. You may encounter giraffes moving gracefully across the savannah, elephants feeding near acacia trees, and herds of zebra and wildebeest grazing across the plains.
Arrive in Central Serengeti (Seronera region) for an afternoon game drive. This area is famous for its high concentration of predators, including lions, cheetahs, and leopards. The Seronera River attracts wildlife year-round, making it one of the best wildlife-viewing areas in Africa.
In the late afternoon, transfer to Friends & Camp Lodge for dinner and overnight. The lodge offers comfortable safari-style accommodation in the heart of the wilderness, allowing you to relax while surrounded by the sounds of nature.
Today is dedicated to exploring the vast Serengeti plains. After breakfast, embark on a full-day game drive with picnic lunch.
Depending on wildlife movement and season, your guide will position you in areas where wildlife activity is highest. You may witness lion prides resting on kopjes, cheetahs scanning the plains from termite mounds, or leopards hidden in acacia trees.
If traveling during the Great Migration season, you may encounter thousands of wildebeest and zebras moving across the plains, followed closely by predators.
The Serengeti’s dramatic landscapes and ever-changing light offer exceptional photography opportunities throughout the day.
Return to Friends & Camp Lodge in the evening for dinner and overnig
After breakfast, enjoy a morning game drive in Serengeti before departing toward Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
The drive offers additional wildlife sightings as you gradually ascend from the open plains into the cooler highlands. Stop at scenic viewpoints overlooking the Ngorongoro Crater for panoramic photographs.
Arrive at Naserian Lodge in the late afternoon. Located near the crater rim or in the Karatu area (depending on booking), the lodge provides comfortable rooms, warm hospitality, and beautiful highland views.
Enjoy dinner and relax in preparation for the crater adventure the following day.
Early morning breakfast followed by descent into the Ngorongoro Crater — one of Africa’s most remarkable natural wonders.
The crater floor is home to an incredible concentration of wildlife within a relatively small area. You may encounter black rhinos grazing on the plains, large bull elephants with impressive tusks, lions, buffaloes, hippos, and flamingos along Lake Magadi.
The enclosed ecosystem provides excellent opportunities to see the Big Five in a single day.
After a picnic lunch inside the crater, ascend back to the rim and drive to Arusha or directly to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure.
