Overview

Enjoy a unique short safari experience at Saa Nane National Park, the smallest fully established National Park in Tanzania and East Africa. Located on Lake Victoria near Mwanza city, this rocky island covers approximately 2.18 sq km and consists of three small islets surrounded by an aquatic ecosystem within the world’s second-largest freshwater lake.

Named after its former owner Mzee Saanane Chawandi, the island later became a protected conservation area in the early 1960s. Today, it is the second floating National Park on Lake Victoria after Rubondo Island, and historically some wildlife was acclimatised here before relocation to Rubondo.
