The Marangu Route, often called the “Coca-Cola Route,” is one of the most popular paths on the mountain because it can be completed in fewer days and offers permanent sleeping huts at each campsite. Summit night begins from Kibo Hut, following a steep climb that passes Gilman’s Point before reaching Uhuru Peak. Although the route is shorter, the final ascent from Kibo is relatively steep. It is also the only route where climbers use the same path for both ascent and descent, which results in heavier traffic.
