The Machame Route, famously known as the “Whiskey Route,” is one of the most popular and scenic routes on Mount Kilimanjaro.

It is slightly more challenging than Marangu, making it ideal for adventurous hikers seeking dramatic landscapes and a rewarding trekking experience.

Machame is known for its excellent acclimatization profile, following the “climb high, sleep low” principle, which significantly improves summit success rates. The route passes through rainforest, moorland, alpine desert, and arctic summit zones — offering breathtaking scenery at every stage.
