Overview
The Eastern Zone supports a large number of wildlife such as elephant, giraffe, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, impala, waterbuck, and many other species. Safaris in Nyerere and Mikumi National Parks are probably the only classic safari to the southeastern zone of Tanzania and offer you the best of it all. This safari takes you to the Nyerere National Park ecosystem and gives you the rare chance to experience the real African wilderness in a few untouched areas of Tanzania.

You'll be picked up from your hotel/airport in Dar es Salaam at 5:30 am and drive to Mikumi National Park with a stop in Morogoro for a hot breakfast. You'll then arrive in the park for a full-day game drive. Enjoy a great welcome by the herd of impalas, elephants, Masai giraffes, lions, wildebeests, buffaloes and many more. Dinner and your overnight stay are at Camp Bastian.

After breakfast from the lodge, start driving to Nyerere National Park. It takes 7 to 8 hours. You will have a picnic lunch on the way and the journey will take about 7 hours through the most unexplored and untouched areas in Tanzania. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at Selous Safari Lodge.

After breakfast from the lodge with packed lunches, enjoy game drives inside the park. Expect to see a large number of animals like lions, elephants, giraffes, buffalo, zebras, hyenas, etc. You will also see a large variety of birds and wonderful scenery with varied topography including wetlands, dry grassland, light acacia forest and higher ground with vast views of far-off mountains. During the afternoon, you will take your lunch and have some rest before leaving for the evening boat drive at the Rufiji River. Return to the camp for dinner and your overnight stay at Selous Safari Lodge.

Leave for an early morning walking safari in Selous Forest then return for breakfast. You'll then prepare for your return to Dar es Salaam with your packed lunches.
