Safari Overview

This 2-day safari highlights the best of northern Tanzania. Explore the elephant paradise of Tarangire National Park, famous for giant baobabs and diverse wildlife, followed by a full crater tour in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, home to the densest concentration of animals in Africa. Perfect for travelers with limited time yet wishing to experience two of Tanzania’s most iconic safari destinations.

Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park

Early morning, depart Arusha after breakfast with your safari guide and drive south towards Tarangire National Park (approx. 2 hours). Upon arrival, begin a full-day game drive in Tanzania’s sixth-largest park, renowned for its vast elephant herds, baobab-studded landscapes, and seasonal swamps that attract buffalo, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, and predators like lions and leopards. Enjoy a Hot lunch inside the park at one of the designated sites overlooking the Tarangire River. In the afternoon, continue your game drive, with excellent chances of spotting birdlife among more than 400 species recorded here. Later in the evening, exit the park and drive towards Karatu for dinner and overnight stay in a comfortable lodge near the Ngorongoro area.

Accomodation and overnight at Marera Valley Lodge or Similar

Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha

After an early breakfast, descend 600 meters into the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater, often called the “Eighth Wonder of the World.” Spend the day on a game drive across the crater floor, a natural sanctuary teeming with wildlife. The crater is one of the best places to spot black rhino, in addition to elephants, lions, cheetahs, hyenas, hippos, and an abundance of antelope and bird species. A picnic lunch will be served at a scenic spot near the hippo pool. In the mid-afternoon, begin your ascent out of the crater and drive back to Arusha, arriving by early evening. This marks the end of your short but unforgettable Tanzanian safari.
