The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Hussein Ali Mwinyi officially inaugurated the Malindi Bus Terminal and launched public transport services using electric buses, describing the initiative as a milestone in building a cleaner, smarter, and more visitor-friendly Zanzibar.

He explained that the Government aims to establish integrated transport hubs around the outskirts of Zanzibar City, allowing conventional buses from rural districts to terminate outside the city centre while environmentally friendly electric buses provide efficient urban transport.
