Strategic Partnership Aims to Unlock New Opportunities for Tourism Growth, Investment and Business Cooperation

Tanzania has taken another significant step in expanding its international tourism and investment footprint through its participation in the Tourism, Trade and Investment Forum currently taking place in Cairo, Egypt.

A high-level Tanzanian delegation led by Hon. Denis Londo, Deputy Minister for Industry and Trade, together with Dr. Hassan Abbasi, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, the Tanzanian Ambassador to Egypt, the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB), government institutions, and private sector stakeholders, participated in the opening day of the forum aimed at strengthening economic and tourism cooperation between Tanzania and Egypt.

The event brought together government officials, investors, tourism leaders, and business representatives from both countries to explore new opportunities for collaboration in tourism, trade, aviation, and investment.

Building New Tourism Corridors Between East and North Africa

The forum provided a platform for Tanzania to showcase its world-class tourism attractions while engaging Egyptian stakeholders on strategies to increase travel flows between the two nations.

Through business-to-business meetings, investment presentations, and policy discussions, Tanzania highlighted its commitment to positioning itself as one of Africa’s leading tourism and investment destinations.

Tourism officials noted that strengthening cooperation with Egypt offers significant opportunities for attracting visitors from one of Africa’s largest tourism markets while promoting regional tourism partnerships.

The discussions focused on enhancing destination marketing, improving connectivity, and encouraging joint tourism initiatives capable of increasing visitor arrivals in both countries.

Learning from Egypt’s Tourism Success

One of the key highlights of the forum was Tanzania’s interest in learning from Egypt’s remarkable tourism achievements.

Egypt currently welcomes more than 16 million international visitors annually, making it one of Africa’s most successful tourism destinations.

Tanzanian officials view Egypt’s success as an important example of how strategic marketing, aviation development, tourism infrastructure, and destination diversification can drive substantial tourism growth.

By strengthening cooperation in tourism promotion and air connectivity, Tanzania hopes to attract a larger share of travelers from North Africa and international visitors who already travel to Egypt.

Industry experts believe such collaboration can create multi-destination tourism opportunities, allowing travelers to combine Egypt’s historical attractions with Tanzania’s wildlife safaris, cultural experiences, mountain adventures, and Indian Ocean beaches.

Tanzania Showcases Its World-Class Attractions

During the forum, Tanzanian representatives promoted the country's diverse tourism portfolio, which includes some of Africa’s most iconic destinations.

Among the attractions highlighted were:

  • Serengeti National Park, famous for the Great Wildebeest Migration.
  • Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain.
  • Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • Tarangire National Park, renowned for its giant elephant herds.
  • Zanzibar, known worldwide for its white-sand beaches, cultural heritage, and marine tourism experiences.

Officials emphasized that Tanzania offers a unique combination of wildlife, culture, history, adventure, and investment opportunities that appeal to a wide range of international travelers.

Tourism, Trade and Investment Working Together

Beyond tourism promotion, the forum also focused on strengthening commercial relations and attracting investment into strategic sectors of the Tanzanian economy.

Participants explored opportunities in tourism infrastructure, hospitality development, aviation, manufacturing, agriculture, logistics, renewable energy, and digital innovation.

Government leaders stressed that tourism, trade, and investment are interconnected sectors capable of driving sustainable economic growth, creating jobs, and increasing foreign exchange earnings.

Private sector representatives from both countries engaged in discussions aimed at identifying practical business partnerships that can deliver long-term economic benefits.

Supporting Tanzania’s Vision 2050

The Cairo forum aligns with Tanzania’s broader development agenda under the National Development Vision 2050, which seeks to transform the country into a leading hub for tourism, trade, investment, and innovation in Africa.

The vision emphasizes economic diversification, international competitiveness, infrastructure development, and stronger global partnerships as key drivers of future growth.

Officials attending the forum noted that strategic engagements such as the Tanzania–Egypt Tourism, Trade and Investment Forum play an important role in achieving these long-term objectives.

A New Chapter in Tanzania–Egypt Cooperation

The strong participation of both public and private sector stakeholders reflects a shared commitment to expanding cooperation between Tanzania and Egypt.

As discussions continue throughout the forum, tourism and business leaders remain optimistic that the partnership will generate new opportunities for travelers, investors, entrepreneurs, and local communities in both countries.

The forum marks another important milestone in Tanzania’s efforts to strengthen international partnerships, attract more visitors, and position itself as one of Africa’s most dynamic destinations for tourism, trade, and investment.
